Coming to you up a muddy road
Good an' dirty, I got a truck load
And when you get it, you got something
Don't worry, 'cause I'm coming

I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man
I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man

Got what I got the hard way
And I dig it deeper, each and every day
So honey, said don't you fret
'Cause you ain't seen nothing yet

I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man
I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man

I was brought up under the street
I learned how to dig before I could eat
I was educated at Woodstock
When I start loving, whoa I can't stop

I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man
I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man

Just grab the rope and I'll pull you down
Give you hope and be your only boyfriend
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm talking about a mole man, mole man

I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man
I'm a mole man, I'm a mole man

Deep fried Nietzsche.

This moment of Zen brought to you by a medium Peet's Coffee coffee and a day of looking at homeschooling blogs. Frighteningly conservative homeschooling blogs. I'm going to have to go home and read the New York Times, watch Tina Fay make fun of Palin, and fornicate while praising Barak Obama until I feel clean again. Um... dirty. No, clean.

On the one hand, I hope the coffee wears off soon so I can start thinking coherent thoughts again. On the other hand, this is kind of fun.

Whee!

Questions questions questions! Isn't the capital "Q" a funny-looking letter? Whee! Why is the side of my head sticky? I'm sorry, everyone. I was up too late last night making cinnamon buns, and now I am running only on caffeine, said cinnamon buns, and the souls of the damned. But fear not! I am a happy monkey; those are some damned good cinnamon buns I made!

Anyway... on to the day's questions:

Question One

Is there a super power that has particularly caught your imagination over the years, and if so, what is it and why?

For me, it's always been teleportation, and I'm not sure why. Early exposure to Star Trek? Too many friends made at summer camp, then separated from me by great distances during the greater part of the year? I don't know why, but the idea of jumping from place to place without crossing the intervening distance has always tickled my fancy - what magic power tickles yours?

Question Two

Similarly, is there a motif you particularly enjoy?

For me, it's anything syncreticized - that is, a mixture of two unalike things to form a strange new whole. Steampunk, magitech, fantasy noir, urban primitive, modern fantasy... these things really turn my crank. I don't always read them or write them, but I really enjoy it when I do. Call it a kink, not a fetish. When it comes to motifs, what does it for you?

Question Three

What ideas for you have for a roleplaying game that uses playing with babies as a randomizer?

. . .

An aside: just because you're a new friend or infrequent commenter on my livejournal is no reason not to respond to these. In fact, it's a reason to respond. I'd love to get to know you all better, whether you are old friends, new acquaintances, or people I don't know at all that I picked up somewhere weird, like rpg.net or a mutual lj friend.

. . .

Oh! Bonus question:

For Halloween (because I'm sick of being a grownup) I'm thinking of making a steampunk costume! I'm thinking grubby, cast-off steampunk: layers of stuff that used to be fancy, but has seen better days. Does anyone have any advice for where I can get ingredients on the cheap?

Because I think steampunk should never lose the steam in favor of the punk, I'm planning on building a prop, too. Right now, I'm imagining modding a nerf gun. If anyone has any advice, how-tos, or recommendations as to which nerf gun would make a good base, I'm all ears.

Thanks for your comments yesterday. I was well pleased. We ended up going with a chicken apple sausage, brie, and spinach quiche and a hummus and veggies plate. And it looks like the way I've been writing my character works fine. And, if I ever get hit by a bus... well, I still have no idea what to do, but at least I'll have something to think about while my doom comes rushing implacably towards me.

Questions of the Day

Today's questions are remarkably serious.

Question One

Where can I find an icon, or at least an image, of a barracuda with a beehive hairdo hanging from a fishing line? No reason.

Really. No reason.

Question Two

Who here has used WordPress? What's it like?

Question Three

Who's watching the debates tonight? Anyone got any amusing predictions?

FYI

During the long day of having to keep using the computer at work, I started up my Kingdom of Loathing account.

I'm Sun Turtle. Send me a message. I'll friend you.
